Shoot Epic Men's Portraits with Just 1, 2, or 3 Lights with Lindsay Adler

This video showcases how I create three different dramatic, black-and-white men's portraits. The first setup features a single strobe using sculpted short light. I feather the light by utilizing a 3ft Octabox on a gray background to create shadows, contrast, and separation. A silver bounce reflector provides a bit of fill and additional catchlights to the shadows. The second setup uses two strobes with hard light and contrast. A magnum reflector with a grid helps us to create crisp shadow edges, and a flag allows us to block light from the highlight side of the face. By exaggerating contrast and illuminating the background, we create very graphic results. Our third and final setup utilizes three lights and specialty modifiers. We craft interesting and usual light by using two optical spots (main and background) plus a fill light for cinematic results.
