Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got a 2024 Ford Bronco and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty brake controller. The Redarc Tow Pro Liberty brake controller is pretty sweet when it comes to vehicles that are capable of off-roading. They work great in other vehicles, just your daily drivers, but they especially shine in these because of their small size and usability. This is what it's gonna look like when it's installed. We do have the added decorative bezel around it, which I highly recommend for the Ford Bronco 'cause it fits perfectly in this spot. This spot here has your mirror controls on it and this spot over here is completely blank. And when your arm is rested on the center console here, you can reach this with ease to be able to hit the manual override. The way that this brake controller is gonna differ from others is obviously you're not gonna have that big bulky box that is mounted up on your dash somewhere. The footwell of the Bronco is a little bit bigger than that of maybe a Jeep's but still not a ton of room to be able to mount up that brake controller the traditional style. So this brake controller, the module itself, the computer that's gonna do all the work is actually gonna be mounted up behind our dash and this knob is gonna be the only thing that you will see on the outside. To operate our brake controller, you're going to just turn your knob to whatever setting you want and the setting that is straight up is going to be the one that's gonna be applied to your brakes. This is a proportional brake controller so you can set it to whatever strength you want and as you ease into the pedal, the brakes are gonna ease into the trailer brakes. There's another version available, it's a Tow Pro Elite that's going to be proportional and user mode. It'll have user mode which is going to be for like if you're pulling like an off-road trailer or something like that and you want the brakes to go, you know, whatever power you have it set at, whether it's a four or a five, you want that power to go immediately to the trailer brakes. Like if you're ascending down a hill or descending down a hill, that is where the Tow Pro Elite is gonna come in handy. This one is just for pulling your standard trailers or if you just need that proportional braking. The user mode is going to allow you to apply more brakes to the trailer while you're going down that hill. And what it does is instead of being proportional to where it slowly sends that signal back to your trailer at the speed at which your vehicle is slowing, it's gonna send that power immediately back to the trailer. And what that user mode is designed to do is you can kind of drag your trailer behind you so that it stays in a straight line when you're coming down that hill. Most brake controllers out there on the market are going to have a manual override. This particular one, I really like it 'cause again, with your arm rested on here, all you have to do is simply push straight in and you can hear that click. You just push in and hold as long as you want the brakes applied and let go when you want 'em to let off. That override is gonna really come in handy if you have to make an evasive maneuver or something like that and you need more braking power on the trailer than you do on the vehicle or vice versa. And I know a lot of people will try to help to correct a little bit of sway if you're having really bad winds or something by just tapping the emergency override, you can tap the brakes on it, it'll help straighten that trailer out behind you and the way you go down the road. Now the reason why we ended up going with the Tow Pro Liberty for our Bronco is because it is designed for trailers for single axle trailers and tandem axle trailers. So one or two axles, the Tow Pro Elite is going to be for up to three axles and then you're also gonna have that user mode. But for us this is gonna be the perfect brake controller. It mounted up really nice and clean with that extra bezel in there and I really like how it turned out and the owner of this vehicle's gonna be very happy when they're pulling their trailer down the road.
