The international system of the past 80 years was constructed around the principles of sovereignty and self-determination. These pillars of geopolitics now must contend with and adapt to the accelerating adoption and use of AI, both by international actors and the public. This disruption will only increase as researchers and states race to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI). As policymakers and diplomats increasingly leverage AI agents and non-state tech companies grow in power and influence in the push toward AGI, significant questions must be addressed regarding the impact of these technologies on actors operating within the international system.   On November 19 at 5:30pm ET, Carnegie Council will host the latest panel in its keynote event series, "Values & Interests," which seeks to interrogate the relationship between morality and power in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment.
