This catches sooo many people out! There are lots of different types of gear cable connectors, so please make sure yours are the same before you try this. But these particular cables catch people out because everyone looks for how they are locked in place. This is the case for most connectors but for these particular ones, they are just push fit. So with a long nose pliers, you can carefully work the connector off the ball joint. It should just pop off. And then when you're ready, they just push back into place! Hope this helps.
