Music deconstruction of the channels for the Main Theme and overworld of the first Final Fantasy game this one at its most primitive for the NES written by Nobuo Uematsu. Video game music theory and piano deconstruction. Music theory analyses will be coming to https://videogamemusicshrine.com Up next is the confusingly named Main Theme, not of the series but of the actual first game, seeing as how being the very first entry, logically this was not a series yet and the actual main theme of the series was only decided by the third installment. This is just the actual overworld of the adventure and it it is full of a more propulsive sense, apt for traveling and embarking on a quest. We get a more modern texture with a proper bass line doing accompaniment and the second melody most of the time just harmonizing the main melody with just a little flourishes of countermelody to fill space at the end of phrases. The noise channel is nowhere to be seen; maybe the team felt that the percussion channel of the NES would make things more groovy and thus diminish the medieval vibe since back in those days and in general for the classical music tradition percussion was mostly ornamental and used to emphasize certain key moments. Beat based music only came when Eastern and African tradition began coloring Western music which are cultures where proper beats are used more. The noise channel could not be used for orchestral percussion so it was dismissed in order to make the music sound more classical. The piece is on the G Ionian/Major key with interesting uses of outside chords such as E major, F major and Bb major, making it sound more modal. Melody for Section 1 is transposed, first sounding on the happy G tetrachord major of the tonic and then the more solemn and pensive A minor tetrachord. Chords of Section 1 would be: G - D - Am - E. The special chord being the E that makes things sound more fantasy like as opposed to cartoony kid's shows. The second section features a long form melody and the more exciting pace of the bass line. The chords would be C - D - Bm - E - Am - F - Bb - D. Naturally, the B Section goes to the fourth as the first chord. Consider supporting the channel and the blog by liking and subscribing.
