The sternal closure system (SCS) screw made of TITANIUM is designed to facilitate Osteosynthesis and prevent complications related to the median sternotomy. The thread is particularly "widened" to allow good anchorage in patients with diseases that affect the hardness of the bone (i.e. osteoporosis). SCS screws can be used as the alone to close the sternotomy or coupled with traditional techniques, but are also used in the Robiseck's technique. The cannulation diameter allows passage of the wire, which is normally used for sternal closure. Screws present an innovative and unique feature - the double apical thread - that allows for greater tensile strength compared to a traditional thread with the same pitch. This thread pattern reduces the possibilitiy of necrosis and significantly improves the healing time of bone tissue. Thanks to the double thread the surgeon gets excellent hole centering, a better self-drilling action and more importantly, a reduction of the insertion time needed to do the implantation.
