Their book traces the development of oceanography in Chile since the early 20th century, exploring the coastline, fjords, channels, oceanic islands, and even the Subantarctic Ocean. More than just a scientific account, it is a testimony of academic experiences, the questions that drive research, and the growing role of women in marine science. Today, Chilean scientists work in remote areas, take part in national and international research cruises, publish globally, and step into leadership roles. In this webinar, we will discuss science that spans from taxonomy to proteomics, climate variability to biogeochemistry, ecology to aquaculture — and how research is addressing the political, social, and environmental challenges of fisheries and climate change.
