Hi my name is Gretchen. I will be one of your nurses throughout your surgical experience and I look forward to meeting you at your preoperative appointment. Our primary goal is to provide you with the best possible experience. We believe that being well-informed about the process and knowing what to expect helps alieve fears and anxiety. Providing this content to you now will allow you to focus on specific questions and concerns during our live pre-operative meeting. At each step along your surgical journey we will provide you the information that you need so please don't worry if you forget something. We will make sure that you know what you need to know For your surgery, we will provide you with three separate videos to review. This first video we'll review how to prepare for surgery In subsequent videos, I will review what you can expect to experience the day of surgery. And in the third video, I will review how to care for yourself post-operatively. I will have separated these videos to make it easier for you to review the content based on your stage in this process. I will give you more specific instructions when we meet for your preoperative appointment. So let's start with how to prepare for surgery Two weeks before surgery, please stop smoking as this can delay the healing process. I would also like you to stop taking medications and supplements that thin the blood. This will help to reduce the risk of bleeding and post-operative bruising. These would include fish oil, Vitamin E in excess of 200 IU a day, aspirin, and products containing ibuprofen such as Motrin, Aleve, and Excedrin. If you are on a prescription blood thinner you will need to consult your prescribing physician about when to safely stop taking them. In general these can be restarted the day following your procedure. You will need to have a history and physical completed by your primary care physician within a month of surgery and fax to us. You will also need to have a COVID test done within a week of surgery and then isolate yourself until you come in. Your COVID test results will need to be faxed to us prior to your procedure so make sure you allow adequate time for the results to come in. When we meet for your pre-op appointment, I will give you several prescriptions. One will be an antibiotic that you are to begin taking the day before surgery. Generally this is Keflex unless there is an allergy to it. A second prescription will be for a Medrol Dose Pack, a light steroid that you will begin taking the day after to help reduce swelling and inflammation. And a third one will be for pain medication that you may use after surgery if necessary. Most of our patients say they get by just taking Tylenol as the discomfort is minimal. If you have any known issues taking any of the prescribed medications we can adjust them or simply not use them. They are not mandatory. Please bring a list of your medications with you to your pre-op appointment. I may ask you to get bloodwork or an EKG depending on the medications you are on and your health history. We ask that you come to your pre-op appointment without any makeup on because we will be taking a series of before photos and evaluating your skin in order to maximize your surgical outcome. At your pre-op appointment, I will give you a more detailed post op care instructions based on the particular surgery you are having. I will also give you any skin care products or supplies you will need for post-op care so that you will not need to go shopping for basic supplies Related Webpages: https://351face.com YouTube channel: / @drjonmendelsohn Youtube Link: • Postoperative Surgical Instructions - ORA... • PreOperative Surgical Instructions - Preop... • Preoperative Surgery Instructions - Preope... • What to Expect Postoperative Surgery - MAC • Day of Surgery Instructions - Surgery Day ... • Day of Surgery Instructions - Surgery Day ... • Day of Surgery Instructions - Day of Surge...
