Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has weighed in on the escalating 2026 Iran war, saying Uganda maintains friendly relations with Iran, the United States, and Israel. Museveni revealed that he has previously discussed the Middle East tensions directly with Iranian leaders, emphasizing that Uganda’s approach is diplomacy rather than taking sides. As chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, he urged dialogue and called on all parties to pursue peaceful solutions instead of escalating the conflict. According to Museveni, both Iran and Israel have made historical mistakes, but lasting peace can only come through negotiations and mutual recognition.
