In the Spring of 2018, I was lucky to sit in for a tour with a band I'm a big fan of. They needed a last minute drummer for eight French dates so I put my hand up. Hastily though, as one of the main reasons I love their music is the sometimes perplexing beats and patterns hypnotic. I had my work cut out. A couple of practices with Lisa Lavery (bass) and homework from Tom House (guitar/vox) and we were ready-ish. The film represents the ten days spent bringing the Sweet Williams magic. Titled a self portrait as it's mostly made up of footage the four of us shot on phones and a DSLR. I think it's lyrical, funny and while the soundtrack features a hit or two, it's mostly a selection of T House nuggets from the vault. Tom kindly gave notes on the edit drafts and the audio was EQed and mastered by Jon Griffin (guitar). It doesn't have as much live performance footage as other tour documents might, but does include some clips of the inspirational live sets from other bands we saw along the way.
