The Gamosa (Assamese: গামোচা) is an article of significance for the Indigenous people of Assam, India. It comes from the Kamrupi word 'Gaamasa' (gaama+chadar), which was once used to cover the Bhagavad Purana on the altar. It is used to clean the body after a bath and is considered a cleansing act. It appears to be a white rectangular piece of cloth with woven designs on three sides and a crimson border on the fourth. The traditional outfit of Assamese males is the dhoti-gamosa. It's wrapped around the head of Bihu dancers, and it's frequently used to cover the altar in the prayer hall or the scriptures. Significantly the gamusa is used equally by all irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds. #Gamosa #SignificanceofGamosa #SymbolofRichAssameseHeritage #EpicFabricFloralAssameseGamosa #AssamCulture #India #Bihu
