Tania Treziak was the heart of her family. She was the woman who never let you leave her house hungry—the matriarch whose table was always full and whose door was always open. This tribute is for a grandmother who represented the very best of us. She lived a life built on strong values: deep love for her family, unwavering generosity, and the quiet strength that holds a community together. She was looking out for her family until the very end. We honour her memory not by remembering how she was violently killed by hatred conjured up inside the deranged mind of an evil Islamic warmonger, no. Not at all. That was not Tania. We honour Tania by remembering her warm, loving heart, and celebrating how she lived: with care, peace, hope, steadfast determination, dignity, and a love that bound her family together. We, as outsiders, were not lucky enough to have known Tania personally, but we can see, and we can feel and we can imagine. We can imagine the warmth around the kitchen table with the family present and being rowdy. We can imagine the love extended to her grandchildren, the Xmas gifts, the laughter, the fun, and the cocktails enjoyed with the "kids" in the early Australian Summer evenings. We can imagine these things because we are the same. We are family-oriented, peace-loving, fun loving, happiness pursuing, Western culture devotees. We share the same values and can see very quickly when we deal with people out there, who "fits in with us" and who doesn't. And most of us Australian westerners, with our equal measure of love and appreciation for our wonderful - morally superior - Western values - including peace, love, prosperity, family, tolerance and understanding - would have LOVED to join Tania in an afternoon cocktail session with the warm Australian summer air comforting us as we drank ourselves happy. Peace be to you and your family Tania. May your memory forever be burned into the hearts of those who knew you and loved you. May your sacrifice be not in vain, as so many of us Australians have now awoken to find an absolute atrocity on our doorstep and in our midst. But now, thanks to you, Your sacrifice, and Your people, we are awake. We are wide awake!! Death to the Jews? Death to the West? No, I don't think so.
