For months now, my son has been complaining about a squealing noise when he started his 2010 Toyota Corolla. He took it to Toyota and they said the squeal was coming from the water pump. I changed the water pump but the squeal remained. My back yard mechanic diagnosis was that the bearing in the alternator was wearing out causing the squeal. I was correct.
