1.In this video, I’ll be talking about some points that I wish I knew when I had first started coding! 2.Don’t Get Discouraged: Age is just a number, as long as you’re interested and ready to learn, you aren’t too young for any skill. If programming is something that you genuinely enjoy doing and want to expand further into, go for it. The world is your university. There are endless tutorials on YouTube itself, you don’t even have to go to some other platform, don’t even have to ask your parents for any money to buy expensive courses. 3. Don’t go for difficult topics at the start, like machine learning, block-chain technology, I am not trying to discourage anyone from learning about these fields but they are a little difficult to learn by even professional workers and researchers, you might get discouraged and stop coding, lose all enthusiasm. 4.Don’t stop coding: You shouldn’t just completely give up on coding. If you feel unmotivated, push through that state of inertia you find yourself in even if you don’t feel like it without making excuses. 5. Focus On Building Logic- You don’t necessarily need to get competitive-coding level good at logic building and pattern identifying. That is overkill for when you are just starting out. When I talk about building logic, I mean being able to think about the entire process and steps for solving a simple program and translating that into code. 6. Code More- Watching tutorials after tutorials will not get you far. It is only actual coding which will spike your growth. For every video you watch, solve 10 similar problems. 7. Ask for help. It is difficult, even for adults to understand languages, frameworks, libraries. Most people give up quick. Even I did. Learn how to solve your problems. Learning how to Google solutions is going to be of immense help. 8. Learn How to Google=A lot of beginners under-appreciate the degree which googling things is a part of a programmer’s job. Sometimes a software developer’s job is more about knowing how to search for something than it is actually programming. 9. Learn how to debug- This is also very similar to the last point. If your code isn’t executing the way it should or getting compiled, there are errors that need to be solved. Find out how to remove them, this is called debugging. 10. Start coding on proper IDEs. A lot of edtech platforms teach students scratch, which is a block based coding approach. I personally don’t think that route is the most suitable. 11. Always Stick to One Task at a Time-It is very tempting to keep switching between various topics and concepts because all of it is so interesting, but that can keep you from getting better at specific skills. You might increase your knowledge but that might just be on the surface, you might struggle with coding real-life applications or solving complex problems.
