Their main objective? Start drifting along the vein to intersect with a raise that will streamline their logistics, cutting down the movement of ore and supplies by over half. They introduce the technique of split shooting: blasting the gold-rich vein first to collect the ore, followed by a separate blast for the waste rock, which can be moved out of the way without diluting the valuable material. The result? To their surprise, the gold vein starts widening after the first blast, and they catch their first glimpse of gold in the face for this season.
