This watch is a personal piece for my collection, and while it was still running, it was in rough shape and badly needed some attention to bring it back to its former glory. The watch had obviously suffered years of neglect. I began with a full teardown and service of the movement, replacing only the mainspring to ensure optimal performance. All gaskets were replaced, and the case and original locking crown were thoroughly cleaned. I then installed a new sapphire crystal for a modern touch of scratch resistance, and a new bezel pip. The watch was finished with a period-correct band, making sure to leave the caseback untorqued for a final regulation once the oils have settled.
