2007 Ford Escape Hybrid - Won’t Start Solution

In this video we have a 2007 ford escape hybrid. according to the customer he got hurt & couldn’t drive for a couple of months. When he got better he decided to start driving again, but the truck wouldn’t start, he thought the 12v battery was dead, he took it off & took it to an auto parts store to charge it & test it. The battery was good, they put it back on the car & still had the same problem. When we got there we did the same thing, we tested the 12v battery & it was good, but then we noticed it was a hybrid, that changed everything. In this hybrid vehicle, it doesn’t have a regular starter motor. It uses power from the hybrid battery to power up the electric motor & turn the engine that way. If the voltage on the high voltage battery is too low, the engine won’t start, the ECM will prevent it from happening. Fortunately Ford installed a built in system to be able to jump start the high voltage battery, all you have to do is press a switch located to the left of the foot pedals. When activated, this switch turns on a system that uses power from the 12v battery to charge the high voltage battery. You just press the switch & a green solid light will turn on, after about 8-10 min it will start blinking, that means it’s done charging, you might have to repeat the process a few times before your able to start the engine, just in case it might be a good idea to jump start the 12v battery with another vehicle while you’re doing this process.
