All Hail the Queen! Hear Thornetta Davis, reigning Queen of Detroit blues, perform her song, “I Need A Whole Lotta Lovin’” off her latest album, “Honest Woman”. Percussion: James Anderson Keyboard: Phillip Hale About Miss Thornetta: Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Thornetta got her start singing in a local talent contest at 15 years of age and went on to join the group Jas. In 1987, she became a backup singer for the soul band “Lamont Zodiac and The Love Signs” and later worked with everyone from Kid Rock to Alberta Adams. She’s opened for Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt and Buddy Guy. Her song “Cry” from the album “Sub Pop” was featured on the HBO hit “The Sopranos”. In 2015, she was crowned “Detroit’s Queen of the Blues” and has amassed over 30 Detroit Music Awards. Her latest album, “Honest Woman” won her a “Blues Blast Magazine Music Award” for “Best Soul Blues Album”.
