FROM FYI TO DIY Who Is Canopy Roads? #5 February 1, 2026 Big Idea: Jesus’ vision for His church is not just FYI but DIY. Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” 3 So he told them this parable: 4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ 7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:1-7 (ESV) My word: ____________________ My phrase/idea: __________________________________ My DIY: __________________________________ DAILY DEVOTIONS FOR THIS WEEK Monday: Read the Parable of the Sower in Luke 8:4-15. Here Jesus described four different levels of receptivity to the gospel based on a farming analogy: hard soil, shallow soil, thorny soil and good soil. What kind of soil best describes your “one lost sheep”? God can certainly change any heart, but wise farmers look for good soil (receptive hearts) to plant their seed (the gospel). Ask God to open your eyes to see receptive people He has prepared to receive Christ. Tuesday: Read Acts 4:23-31. Peter and John had just been arrested and threatened with harm if they continued to share the gospel. How did they and the other disciples respond? Let v. 29 be your prayer asking for boldness to share the gospel with your “one” and other ones God puts in your life. Wednesday: You may have chosen a “one” lost friend or family member last year and become discouraged with their lack of response to your witness. Read Hebrews 10:35-39. The word translated “confidence” is the same word translated “boldness” in Acts 4:29. Don’t give up sharing the love and good news of Jesus! Keep praying and living SENT. Thursday: Read Luke 15. Jesus tells three stories about something or someone that was lost. The shepherd, woman and father never gave up on what/who was lost. After each was found there was a great celebration. Even the angels celebrate when a lost soul is rescued. Don’t give up on the “lost sheep” in your life. Love them like the father loved the prodigal son. Pray for them and anticipate the celebration that will happen when they trust and follow Jesus. What a day that will be! Friday: Read John 1:35-51 about the calling of the first disciples. What invitation did Jesus give Andrew in v. 39? What did Andrew do with his brother Simon? What invitation did Philip give his friend Nathanael in v. 46? Living SENT always leads to an invitation to action like “come and see”, “follow me”, etc. Invite your “one” to church, small group or a church event. Invite them to receive the gift of eternal life by trusting and following Jesus. Don’t be surprised if it takes many invitations before they say, “yes”. Don’t throw away your confidence! Invite them!
