ORAMM 2024 | New Route! | 62 Mile MTB race in Old Fort, North Carolina

This was my third time racing ORAMM. I did better than last year overall but lacked in several places. Conditions weren't the best either. Heartbreak Ridge was particularly sketchy this year. It could have been way worse; it rained constantly days before the race and the forecast called for a huge storm throughout the race. The latter never happened, thankfully. Funny enough, the route has changed each time I have done ORAMM, so I can only compare segments and not an overall time per se. In 2023, the hike-a-bike from Blue Ridge Parkway into Heart Break Ridge was removed, and a couple of miles were added to ride a Connector trail as a replacement. For 2024, the changes were bigger. They added the Gateway trail (about 2 miles long) before the 2nd Rest Stop and Kitsuma #2 was replaced by Bernard Mountain Trail, a shorter and easier trail.
