How does a computer work? | IPO Cycle | Input-Process-Output cycle | Grade 1 & 2 | #HowDoesComputerWork? #grade1 #grade2 How does a computer work? A computer cannot work on its own. We need to enter letters, numbers, pictures and instructions into the computer to make it work. These are called data. Different parts of a computer do different tasks. A computer works in 3 basic steps. Input, process and output. This is called the IPO cycle. Let’s understand this IPO cycle with an example. When we have to prepare a tasty glass of orange juice. How do we do it? Step 1 is the input – we put the peeled orange slices, water and sugar into the blender. This is Input. Step 2 is process – let's switch on the blender. It blends the orange, sugar and water perfectly. This is the process Step 3 is the output – Finally, a flavorful orange juice is poured out of the blender, all set to drink. This is the output In the same way a computer works by following the IPO Cycle I is for Input, P for Process and O stands for Output Input - The data and instructions that we enter into a computer are called input. We input data using a keyboard and a mouse. Process – Working on the data is called processing. The CPU works on the data and does all the thinking and calculations. Output – When the CPU finishes processing the data, the output is displayed on the monitor. Output means the final result. Let’s summarize the IPO Cycle. The data that we enter into the computer is the input. When the computer works on the data it is called process. The final result given by the computer is called output.
