President Duma Boko Consults Ntlo ya Dikgosi on Proposed Constitutional Court

President Advocate Duma Boko has met with Ntlo ya Dikgosi to discuss the proposed establishment of a Constitutional Court, a major governance reform aimed at strengthening constitutionalism, the rule of law, and democratic oversight in Botswana. During the engagement, Ntlo ya Dikgosi raising concerns over the lack of prior consultation before the proposal was formalised into a Bill. The President acknowledged these concerns and issued an apology, reaffirming the importance of consultation and institutional respect. President Boko emphasised that sustainable reform must be grounded in Botswana’s traditions, respect for established institutions, and inclusive dialogue. He further assured that nationwide consultations will be conducted to ensure the reform reflects the views of Batswana and serves the national interest.
