We are happy to present the video of an insightful lecture delivered by Dr. Panchali Majumder, Associate Professor, Department of History, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan (Girls’ College), as part of the International Seminar on Indian Knowledge System (IKS) titled “Ancient Roots to Future Routes.” In her lecture, “The Lesser-Known Treasures of West Bengal: Exploring Terracotta Temples in Birbhum,” Dr. Majumder offered a rich historical and cultural exploration of the terracotta temple tradition of Birbhum. She highlighted the artistic excellence, iconography, socio-religious context, and regional uniqueness of these temples, drawing attention to their significance as living repositories of India’s cultural heritage. The lecture illuminated how terracotta art reflects local narratives, devotional practices, and historical transitions, making it an important component of India’s traditional knowledge systems. Dr. Majumder’s lucid presentation and visual references made the session both academically rewarding and accessible to students and scholars alike. The programme was attended by academicians and scholars from various colleges, along with students and faculty members of RKSMVV, and was widely appreciated for its depth, clarity, and cultural relevance. Organised by: IKS Cell, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan (Girls’ College) in collaboration with IQAC & Dharmawiki (IIT Bombay)
