When American engineer J. Walter Christie failed to convince the US Army to buy more of his "convertible" light tanks, he was strapped for cash, so he switched to alternative methods of monetization. Christie sold a number of his tanks to the Soviet Union, who modified and evolved his design. This eventually led to the BT-5 and BT-7 light tanks. Christie's suspension model took up a lot of internal volume, though it allowed for greater speed offroad and even allowed the vehicle to be driven on its wheels. The BT tanks had a few reliability issues, namely with the transmission and engine. They were also prone to shedding their tracks. The BTs laid the groundwork for the T-34, which would become the Soviet Union's mainstay tank during World War II. Check the channel "About" section for the link to the creator of my profile picture.
