Tirupati Laddu Scam: Devotees Fed Fake Ghee Made Of Chemicals For 5 Years | India Today News

This special report focuses on the Tirupati laddu ghee adulteration scam, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arresting Delhi-based chemical trader Ajay Kumar Sugandha. According to the SIT's remand report, Bhole Baba Organic Dairy, run by promoters Pomil Jain and Vipin Jain, 'never procured a single drop of milk or butter from anywhere but yet managed to supply 68 lakh kgs of ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams between 2019 and 2024'. The investigation has revealed that the Uttarakhand-based dairy, despite being blacklisted by the TTD in 2022, continued to supply spurious ghee by using other dairies as fronts. Sugandha is accused of supplying chemicals like acetic acid esters, which were mixed with palm oil to create the synthetic ghee.
