In 1970 low-bed trailers were already produced with removable gooseneck at KAMAG. The low-bed trailer could be equipped with up to four steered axles to obtain the desired load-bearing capacity. 1- and 2-axle dollies were even then available for gooseneck, in order to achieve maximum payloads. The steering, the principle which can still be found in transporters of KAMAG today was done purely mechanical, which allowed a simple uncoupling of the gooseneck. Here, the steering column automatically intervened in the steering recording of the platform. A loading height of 60 cm allowed the transport of ever-increasing construction machinery. At very low bridges the gooseneck could be hydraulically lowered to the ground. The use of 15 “tires was not possible at that time since so no high load bearing capacity could be ensured. That was the reason why all transporters have been equipped with the well-known pendulum axle technology, which is until today the basic principle of many heavy load transporters from KAMAG. See for yourself and enjoy the little trip into the past of heavy-duty history!
