This webinar serves as an interest meeting for a potential new Research Interest Group (RIG): Research Beyond Traditional Academia. This RIG will address the growing demand for research conducted outside traditional academic settings—a domain often overlooked in academic discourse and career preparation. Doctoral programs primarily train students for tenure-track positions, frequently excluding alternative research careers from the conversation. In response, this RIG seeks to open up dialogue around research opportunities beyond four-year institutions. It aims to support education researchers at all career stages in exploring diverse professional pathways, while also fostering connections between external organizations and the NARST community. As interest in non-traditional research environments continues to rise, this RIG is committed to building networks that increase visibility, promote collaboration, and expand career possibilities for education researchers. Speaker: Ti'Era Worsley, Northern Virginia Community College
