A song I wrote around 2015, after a mate said "why don't you write a song or two?" so I thought I'd write a song close to my heart. It's not about guilt or blame but rather truth telling, an acknowledgement of the legacy of colonisation and it's effect on the First Nations Peoples of Australia. I first broke bread with Stolen Generations mob in East Gippsland in Victoria, as a kid. The bonds I formed then have been with me throughout my life and I am forever grateful to those kids for taking me into their world, and calling me brother. Now with the upcoming referendum in Oz, I encourage a profound #YES23 vote to recognise our FNP in our constitution and allow FNP to have a voice in matters which affect them.
