This is our story about the mistakes you can do as a filmmaker and how you struggle for days to get a few seconds of footage. This behind-the-scenes film follows the making of Sweden’s Saltiest Coast, an independent environmental documentary about the Swedish west coast and its marine wildlife. With no production company and no external funding, we handled everything ourselves — filming seals and cormorants, recording interviews with researchers and fishermen, capturing underwater footage, and editing and color grading the entire film in-house. Along the way, we faced real filmmaking challenges: rough seas and unstable camera shots sound problems during interviews lost footage and technical mistakes filming wildlife without disturbing the animals This is an honest look at independent documentary filmmaking — the mistakes, some of the problem-solving, and the persistence it takes to complete a no-budget wildlife documentary. If you’re interested in: documentary filmmaking, behind-the-scenes content, environmental films, marine conservation, or learning how to make a film with limited resources — this is for you.
