Welcome to my channel. Where I document life and gardening both at home and at the allotment. I am based in Lincolnshire , UK. Today was really just about getting what jobs done that were needed before the frost hits , our first frosts are due this week . Its the end of November . It has rained everyday and plot 1 is easier ( less muddy ) to work at than plot 2 when the ground is wet and soggy. The greenhouse I have emptied all the plants I grew in pots things like basil and aubergines into the beds for them to break down. Bulked out with leaves and cardboard put down. In the spring they will all be redressed with fresh bought in manure and compost. This greenhouse we can now grow in the majority of it as we have the greenhouse at home for seedlings and germination. We also now have hanging shelves in the polytunnel too if we need them . I covered everything last year with cardboard or pallets and it worked well so I am doing the same this year. Compost can be a huge expense so I use whatever I can to break down over winter to bulk up the beds. There are always plenty of branches and pruning's and dead plant matter to use. The ground does not usually stay frozen for long here but sometimes I wait for it to be killed off by the frost before I do some beds. Perennial weeds such as dandelions you get the tap root out if you can and drown it in water or dry it out totally before composting. I have no source of free woodchip or horse manure (that doesn't eat from sprayed fields ) I have cardboard , weeds and rabbit manure / hay and straw readily available to me so that's what I use to enhance the soil and bulk up the beds. Thanks for watching new videos every Monday 8am usually. Extra footage will be downloaded on a Thursday am as and when I have it.
