Forging a KATANA out of Rusted SHACKLE | Davids Profession How i made this beautiful Katana from the shackle is as under Forging: The shackle was almost all made up of steel, and took 8 hours (continuous work) to turn up it into a flat iron bar. The hammering was all with the hands and muscle power. I turned it to a 32 inches long iron bar, URL:    • Hammering relaxing video   Grinding: Bevel was made with the angle grinder, because i had an old and expired belt grinder. This exercise was tiresome and took 2 days to make the bevel on the blade. Made blood grove with the rotary pencil grinder. Worked with file to make the surface even, and later on hand sanded the flat iron bar to make it more soft and even. Hardening: I used fireclay to cover the blade except bevel, and tempered it to adequate hardness. Handle (Collar, Spacer & Guard) I made the Collar using waste brass pellets and pieces and cast it on the styro foam piece. watch it in the video. i also uploaded the video of Casting Colar with URL:    • Scabbard Colar Casting Full Video - Succes...   I found the guard in an electrical scrape store, and realized that it could be used as a Guard after improvisation and cleaning then polishing turned it into a beautiful glittering guard. Thumbs Up The wood for the handle was also from my house scrape and made it to pro Katana like handle. Polishing: Standard procedure was adopted(cloth buff, and Emri) to polish the Katana.
