I'm not really sure what happened this game, but when my opponent and I both dropped Castles on a center island, it was time for Petards and War Elephants. This game was played on a custom map called Lost Island. I picked Persians for this map because it is a Nomad start and since the Persians start with extra Wood they can open by constructing a TC, House, Dock, and Fishing Ship before needing to collect any extra Wood. I used the Market to click up to the Castle Age quickly, then ended up winning the water. I was in a pretty strong position before getting my TC denied on the center island. At I tried to quick-wall a Villager on the opposite side from my opponent's Tower, but I clicked in the TC foundation hitbox and the Vil pathed around the opposite side of the Gold mine where it needed to run and didn't have the separation I needed from the enemy Villager to be able to quick wall. Then the middle got walled out and I started Castle dropping. When my opponent built a Castle, it was time for Petards. It takes quite a few to blow up a Castle, and I had just enough to take it down. But then my opponent went for a Ram push. The best defense against this in the Castle Age is to have a Mangonel behind your Castle to destroy the Rams, but since I didn't have one I needed to find another way to protect the Castle. I needed a melee unit to kill the Rams, and at that point my only option was the massive War Elephant. One lesson I learned from the campaigns: Guard Towers with Heated Shot are incredibly effective at destroying ships.
