Back downtown once more for some more action. Enjoy. Train #1: CSX C214's engines head light by Shiplock Park toward Brown's Island to collect their train. ES44AH 972 ES44AH 969 Train #2 (1:14): CSX W060 comes off AM Junction, heading to Fulton Yard with some MOW vehicles. ES44AH 765 ES44AH 851 ES44AH 3148 Train #1 again (7:24): CSX C214 continues east with their train. Gotta love the view from the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge! ES44AH 969 ES44AH 972 (16:16): As we walk along the Manchester Flood Wall walk, I got some shots of the sitting NS power there. There was NS V24 tied down in the yard led by SD40-2 3256 (ex-SOU). Also sitting there is C44-9W 9747 and GP38-3 5824 (ex-SOU GP50 7060). Train #3 (21:13): As the rain begins pouring, CSX C376 heads up to AM Junction with a YN2 AC4400CW leader. This South Carolina bound train even includes two mid-DPUs and three rear end helpers, which are the engines that brought W060 in earlier. From the way the helpers were positioned (and that there was someone in the cab), I almost thought they were going to take the Bellwood Sub south. However this was not the case. The rear GEVOs were merely helping the train to the Acca Yard wye, where they would take the A-Line south. This was my best moving train catch of the day. AC4400CW 555 ES44AH 820 ES44AH 3227 (mid-DPU) ES40DC 5273 (mid-DPU) ES44AH 3148 (rear helper) ES44AH 851 (rear helper) ES44AH 765 (rear helper) (37:16): Checking out the mini waterfall of rain falling onto the walkway from the giant I-95 overpass. (37:48): CSX W060's engines pass AM Junction returning from assisting C376. The first engine's number is easy to remember, as it has the same number as NKP 765. ES44AH 765 ES44AH 851 ES44AH 3148 (38:48): A Jet Blue plane flies overhead from Richmond International. Trains #4 and 5 (39:04): Coal train meet! First, a massive E740 heads west on Track 2 with a five-pack of locomotives. Shortly after the fifth engine on E740 passes, C209 (mostly blocked) goes by on Track 1. Of course, E740's lead engine reminds me of the famous Boeing plane. CSX E740 ES44AH 747 ES44AH 3085 ES44AH 713 CM44AH 7254 (ex-AC4400CW 353) ES44AH 966 CSX C209 ES44AH 3137 ES44AH 930 (mid-DPU) ET44AH 3295 (mid-DPU) Train #6 (53:13): Amtrak P186 arrives and departs Richmond Main Street Station. P42DC 186 Train #7 (58:15): CSX L213 passes between I-95 and the floodwall as it approaches its destination at Fulton Yard in Richmond, VA. ET44AH 3336 Train #8 (1:01:37): CSX G647 passes Brown's Island heading east to Fulton as the rain and skies turn gloomier. ES44AH 715 ES44AH 710 (1:05:56): This was fun, despite the rainfall. Walking around the Richmond, VA Train Museum, which formerly served as a Southern Railway depot. Getting a good look at the Seaboard System caboose, and the REA Express car, as well the 0-4-0T Porter steam locomotive, whose previous owner(s) have been difficult to pinpoint. Nontheless, it was great to get footage of a steam locomotive of some kind, running or not! Train #9 (1:09:37): After its stop at Main Street, Amtrak P125 exits AM Junction onto the Peninsula Sub for the remainder of its journey to Newport News. Sorry about the quality, the rain was getting in the way. I hard to sharpen the video on Sony Vegas to lessen those effects. P42DC 112 Train #10 (1:10:58): We conclude the day with CSX G227 moving west to AM Junction. All those GEVOs.. ES44AH 3148 ES44AH 785 ES44AH 3189 (1:22:45): Slideshow of my catches, and lots of other pictures I took throughout my visit. Always like to capture those scenic views as well as the landmarks along the Capital Trail here. Music: Soul Eater: Blitz / richmondcityrailfan / nicholas.clemens.7965
