To be clear, I am not good at this game at all. I've never played a DnD game before - tabletop or videogame. I'm playing on Easy, and having a tough time of it. When I approached it like a normal battle, trying to take everyone out, it was too hard to keep my people alive. You only have to kill that one guy, so I went into Turn-based mode, popped Invisibility potions on three people, and put them at the far end of the map. I then had Lae'zel show herself near the entrance to start the battle, then got a couple of hits in with Karlach. The other two do not stay put, the top ladder seems to be unusable when the boss teleports away, so I had to jump down in order to start attacking. Karlach seemed to do more damage with Ranged on this guy - he takes maybe 1 damage with a melee hit. My character killed him with Insect Plague, which was a nice surprise. After that, I just Ended Turn a few times, and all of the other enemies either disappeared or just disengaged.
