Do you have a secret musical ability? Can you easily imagine hearing music in your mind? In this talk, music cognition researcher, Rebecca Gelding unpacks the science of musical imagery ability with the help of some audience participation, and explains how it could be the key to becoming a musician. Rebecca Gelding is a cognitive scientist who was featured on ABC Science. Aside from her academic publications and award-winning PhD thesis on the human brain when people imagine music, she has also written for the Quillette and Times Higher Education and is an editor of the Australian Music Psychology Society quarterly newsletter.
