The altercation occurred when Kavad, en route to Delhi airport to resume duty in Srinagar, requested to bypass a long queue due to time constraints and cited his village’s toll-exempt status. The dispute escalated, leading to at least six toll workers pinning Kavad to a pole, beating him with sticks, and threatening him with a brick. His cousin was also attacked. Viral CCTV and mobile footage triggered massive protests by Kavad’s family and locals at the toll plaza, demanding justice. Meerut Police arrested four toll booth workers, with two additional teams pursuing other suspects. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sarurpur police station, and investigations continue using CCTV evidence.
