Ukrainian BTR-4 destroys at least one russian T-72 and one BTR with the support of infantry -counterattack on Mytropolytska Street, Mariupol (47°06'23.6"N 37°31'47.9"E) probably on the 13/03/2022 CONTEXT : On the 13th of March 2022, russian armored formations began to maneuver through the Zhovtnevyi district on the western edge of Mariupol towards the city center to their east, driving along Peace Avenue and parallel streets. As the bulk of the Ukrainian defenders retreat further into the city, a small formation composed of about 10 operatives from the 73rd Maritime Special Operations Center and other units counterattack. The russian columns struggle to navigate the narrow streets, leading to Ukrainian infantry destroying multiple enemy MBT's and AFV's with the support of at least one BTR-4. This unexpected resistance forces the russian advance to stop, and resort to blasting the defenders out of the northwestern part of the city with artillery and tank fire. The russians would replicate this "mechanized blitz" tactic in future assaults on the city, leading to ridiculous loss ratios about every single time, before shelling everything to smithereens.
