LPG Cylinder Crisis: Iran Allows 2 Indian LPG Ships Through Hormuz Strait; Congress Questions

Amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has granted safe passage to two Indian vessels, Shivalik and Nandadevi, each carrying approximately 46,000 tonnes of LPG. The Indian government confirmed the ships crossed the strait safely and are expected to arrive at Mundra and Kandla ports between March 16 and 17. Iranian envoy to India Mohammad Fathali confirmed that some Indian vessels were allowed to transit the strategically important waterway in a rare exception to the blockade. As of now, 22 Indian vessels are operating in the western part of the Strait of Hormuz, including six LPG vessels, one LNG vessel and four crude oil tankers.
