This wasn’t just a trip to Egypt. It was a pilgrimage. For years, Egypt lived in my Daddie’s stories - in his love for Earth, Wind & Fire, in the way he spoke about the pyramids, in the pride he carried about a place he had never physically seen but deeply felt. He passed before he ever got a chance to see them. So I went in his place. From Cairo to Luxor to Alexandria, I walked through ancient temples, descended into tombs in the Valley of the Kings, stood before Hatshepsut’s Temple, explored Medinet Habu, rode camels at the Pyramids of Giza, drifted along the Nile on a felucca, visited the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and ended my journey staring at the Great Pyramid one last night. I traveled with my sons. I grieved. I healed. I stood in awe.
