Episode 4 | 14 January 2026 This Video shooted on new built chitral gilgit road. We started our journey early morning from Darosh Bazaar after a simple breakfast and tea. By the time we finalized a few essentials in Darosh Bazaar, it was around 10 AM, and the ride officially began. Passing through Chitral, we picked up a traditional Chitrali cap, a shawl, enjoyed local chana chaat, and refueled before heading further north. Shortly after leaving the city, we stopped by the riverside to relax and enjoy the views. As we entered Upper Chitral, we registered at the district checkpoint and continued riding on the Gilgit–Chitral Road, also known as the Shandur Expressway. Some sections of this road are fully completed, while others are still under construction. According to locals, the project is expected to be completed by 2026. This road has the potential to become a strong alternative to the Karakoram Highway (KKH). The landscapes along this route are incredibly scenic, offering views that are rarely seen even on KKH. After a short stop at a roadside dhaba for tea and rice, we continued our journey and finally reached Mastuj. Upon arrival, we refueled again, making the bike ready for the next day. Mastuj is often considered the last city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Though it looks like a village, it is one of the three tehsils of Upper Chitral, equipped with courts, a police station, and a functioning TMA responsible for city maintenance. The town has limited hotels and restaurants, and only one hotel was open at the time of our arrival. For dinner, locals recommended Shadab Café, where we had a simple meal and tea. That night, temperatures dropped to –23°C to –25°C. The extreme cold froze the water pipes inside the hotel, and the staff had to arrange water from a nearby house. Despite the conditions, it turned into a unique and unforgettable winter travel experience. #SafarEMastuj #ShandurExpressway #DaroshToMastuj #ChitralTravel #pakistanroadtrip Subscribe to Travel with Nabeel to explore more hidden gems across Pakistan.
