ACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Sunday, September 21, 2025 — A woman was detained late Sunday afternoon after her Mustang convertible struck a guardrail along Pacific Coast Highway, according to Los Angeles police at the scene. It is believed that officers detained the driver on suspicion of impaired driving after the vehicle appeared to lose control and sideswipe the barrier, leaving the car with significant damage. Witnesses said they observed the woman performing a field sobriety test before she was placed in the back of a patrol car. Because the Mustang blocked a traffic lane, police remained on scene until a tow truck could safely remove the vehicle. Patrol cars were positioned to shield the wreckage, and the woman waited in the back of a police vehicle for more than an hour until the tow arrived. During the delay, an officer briefly escorted her to a nearby public restroom, removing the handcuffs for a few moments before returning her to the car. The Mustang was eventually towed without incident, and no injuries were reported.
