BEAVERCREEK -- A Kettering lawyer accused of assaulting a Wright State student at a public spot on Wednesday night.A Beavercreek police report says officers responded to Adobe Gilas at the Greene after security guards contacted dispatch after a young woman was assaulted.Reports indicate the suspect, Aaron Hartley, put his hands around the 23-year-old victim's neck.We caught up with that young woman -- Katrina Edwards, who says she had no idea who the man was.Edwards tells us she had just gotten off work and was studying for an anatomy test when Hartley asked to use her phone. He wasn't acting weird or anything, so I let him, she said.In the police report it says Hartley got mad and said, what is wrong with your phone, fing sign out of your facebook.Edwards says that's when her friend pulled her seat closer to her and Hartley came up behind her and put both hands around her neck.Beavercreek police officers arrested Hartley for assault and he was taken to the Fairborn jail where he said he would pay his $5,000 bond.Police tell us there were no security cameras inside the bar, but several witnesses gave statements about the incident. In no shape or form do I think it's acceptable to touch a female, said Edwards.Reports also show Hartley told police he's an attorney and named off several Greene County judges. And, then to also hear you think you can get away it and you know people, it's disgusting, said Edwards.Beavercreek police reported that Hartley was intoxicated -- he could face a misdemeanor assault charge.Hartley is also banned from the Greene for two years.A call to him was never returned.
