Although Helsinki has been well connected to China and the rest of Asia by Finnair, HEL has really been lacking in Asian carriers, with JAL being the only one with their daily flight from Narita. For the longest time there has been plans, speculations and rumours of different Chinese operators opening routes to Helsinki but not a single one of them ever touched down at HEL. It all, however, changed when Tibet Airlines A330-200 arrived from Jinan yesterday evening and "TV" became the, long-awaited, first Chinese airline to start operations to the Finnish capital. For now HEL will see the airline only on Mondays but starting from May the new route will be operated twice a week. Tibet Airlines' fleet consists of 32 aircraft from which five are wide-body A330-200s and rest a mix of A319s and A320s. The fleet's average age is as low as 3.5 years!
