Durham may not be the most well known city in England but a visit here is like stepping in to a real life fairytale. The magnificent cathedral is the centrepiece of this historic city and this place blew us away both inside and out. You won't be surprised to learn it featured as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movie franchise. Wandering the picturesque medieval streets and the tranquil river walk with it's incredible views is an experience where for once, you don't need to be spending money or doing anything more than just taking it all in. Beyond the city centre is an eclectic mix of culture at Durham University where you can visit everything from a museum dedicated to everything oriental or the beautiful landscapes and greenhouses of the botanic garden (or both of course like we did!). If Durham isn't already on your bucket list, put it there immediately!
