HS2 works are continuing at the A5 Hints Bypass near Tamworth, where a new bridge is being built to carry A5 traffic over the future high-speed railway. Once complete, HS2 trains will pass underneath this structure, making it one of the key road crossings on this section of the route. This footage captures an interesting stage of the build, with a large mobile crane positioned in the middle of the bridge works, ready for the next major operation. The structure is clearly taking shape, and the site now looks prepared for the installation of the massive reinforced concrete beams that will form a crucial part of the bridge. Those beams are currently stored nearby, close to Rock Hill Road, waiting to be moved across to the bridge location. With live A5 traffic running nearby, this is a good example of the scale and complexity involved in building major infrastructure while keeping an important road route operating.
