Rome was just one of many civilisations competing for territory and resources on the Italian Peninsula in the 3rd century BC. Constantly at war with their neighbours and competing not only for their existence, but also territory, resources and wealth, there were numerous battles and constant threats that could all undermine their future as a civilisation. So what was the turning point that allowed Rome to prosper ahead of it’s neighbours and eventually develop into the dominant culture of the region. This short video explains that turning point and what happened and how Rome went on to become the Roman Republic
