CXL - An Interconnect of today's data processing needs

This presentation brings an introduction to CXL Interconnect. In Semiconductor chip design technology, the developments intends to make chips faster and consume low power. It is achieved by Fabrication technologies (manufacturing node) & logic design & Architecture of processing infrastructure. CXL protocol architecture provides an interconnect to today's data processing needs. Today's workloads like AI/ML running in datacenters use heterogeneous computing. Heterogeneous computing aims to split a workload processing among multiple CPUs and Accelerators (like GPU, Graphics processing unit). HPC (High Performance Compute accelerator) card connected to datacenter product can bring many application to life, which take advantage of accelerators processing for specific workloads, like AI/ML, training their models with compute power from HPC product. CXL allows multiple processing units to process workload parallelly through it's coherent access to memory of attached devices. CXL also allows memory bandwidth expansion to datacenter server products used in cloud computing. Sharing of resources brings efficiency, reduces cost.
