The commercials may not be remarkable, but the announcers are. First up is Greg Stewart, whose charisma, slick on-air production (and encyclopedic knowledge of rock and pop) gave CKWS-AM’s afternoon drive show a big-city sound in the late 1960s and early ‘70s. Greg also hosted a late version of Channel 11's Teenage Dance Party, renamed Uptight. He wound up at Montreal’s top English-language radio stations: CKGM and CJAD/CJFM. The next ad features Neil Kirby, who became one of Kingston’s most familiar broadcast personalities between the ’70s and ‘90s — splitting his tenure between rock on 960 and a softer adult contemporary format on CFLY-FM.
