Adventures in Northland: Cape Reinga, Shipwreck Bay | NZ North Island with Kids S5 Ep8

Currently on lockdown in NZ. This footage was shot before we had to shelter at home. In today's episode, we continue our adventure in Northland. Our first stop was to a gorgeous white sand beach called Rawawa Beach. It was had some great waves for the boys to bodyboard and for Chris to surf. Our next stop took us all the way up to Te Paki Stream. Te Paki Stream is home to massive sand dunes and some awesome sandboarding. there are a few different spots to sandboard, but we didn't want to sandboard with the crowds. We made the decision to drive through the stream towards the ocean in hopes of finding a better spot. It was nerve-wracking, but well worth the adventure! We found an awesome spot to sandboard! We tried to make it the rest of the way to the ocean, but came to a big patch of dry sand. we saw other trucks stuck there and decided it wasn't going to happen. We drove south to another entrance to the famous 90 Mile Beach. After a drive on the beach, we drove back north to see the Cape Reinga lighthouse and the spot where the two oceans meet and collide. Our final day, we headed to a famous surf break featured in the popular surf movie "Endless Summer". Chris was super excited to get the chance to surf this break.
