It is a lightweight structured format for storing and transporting data and JSON is commonly used during API Integration. While Serialization (or known as Encoding) is turning a data structure into a string, Deserialization (or Decoding) is the opposite process, where turning a string into a data structure. However, Serialization also commonly refers to the entire process of translating data structures to and from a more easily readable format.
